| Quite simply, to combat global climate change and the effect of global warming. | ||||||||||||||
Global warming causes > |
||||||||||||||
| What is global warming? This is caused by carbon dioxide CO² and other polluting gases. Gases trap heat around our planet like the glass on a green house. These gases last for many years and as they build up, the planets temperature rises. Green house gases are released by burning fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil and by cutting down forests. Our western industrialised countries produce vast amounts of CO² by burning fossil fuels for the production of electricity. | ||||||||||||||

If you are still not convinced of the effects of global warming, how about the disappearance of a few things closer to home. Such as, our native bluebell woods, Trees like the Birch and Cherry tree and even peas, pears and broad beans. Climate change is also affecting our North Sea Cod which could mean goodbye to our fish and chips! |
